Superintendent placed on leave

In closed session at a special meeting of the Rim of the World Unified School District board of trustees on Monday, July 3, the board voted 3-2 to place Dr. Kimberly Fricker, the superintendent of schools, on paid administrative leave. Trustees Scott Craft, Cindy Gardner and Jordan Zarate voted aye while President Bill Mellinger and Trustee Jordana Ridland voted nay.

In addition, the board voted unanimously to appoint Michael Whisenand as interim superintendent. Whisenand, a retired superintendent, has worked for the Rim district in a variety of capacities since 2017, most recently as an HR consultant. He served as interim superintendent prior to the hiring of Michelle Murphy .
