As usual, a crowd is expected at this year’s annual CHP open house and car show, slated for Saturday, Sept. 21 at the California Highway Patrol’s Arrowhead Area headquarters in Running Springs.
This much anticipated, family-friendly, free-to-the-public event begins at 10 a.m. and wraps up around 2 p.m. With dozens of vintage and classic cars and trucks on display, an exciting police dog demonstration, Caltrans exhibit, raffle, barbecued hot dogs, popcorn and sodas, this event is guaranteed not to disappoint either young or old.
According to a CHP spokesperson, this event will offer a unique opportunity to see emergency equipment and meet the men and women who are committed to protecting our lives and property. In addition to displays of classic cars and CHP vehicles, the CHP’s Commercial Unit, which conducts tire tread and brake inspections on big rigs, will be on hand, as well as the department’s Motor Unit, which deploys CHP motorcycles to patrol area freeways.
Those attending this stellar event always enjoy evaluating and rating each one of the classic vehicles and sticking around to find out which ones are chosen for People’s Choice and Best of Show trophies.
