The staff at the Crest Forest Senior Citizens Center invites families and residents to come on over to the lakeshore and have a “don’t cook tonight” night at their Stuff Your Spud event on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
For just $5 you can fill your potato with your choices of a combination of toppings that include butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon, chili, onions and many more. You can actually have so many toppings you may not even see the potato underneath.
After you have fulfilled your potato cravings, maybe an ice cream sundae dessert will perfectly conclude your meal. For only an additional $5, build your own masterpiece sundae with all the toppings you desire. Those who leave hungry, didn’t stuff enough into their spud.
Crest Forest Seniors President Penny Shubnell said, “Don’t forget to come out on Sept. 25 for Stuff Your Spud and ice cream sundaes, which is a fundraiser for the senior nutrition luncheon program.”
It is said the mountain’s senior nutrition program is one of the best in San Bernardino County, offering six luncheons a month, where they give out community news and offer programs that educate seniors on opportunities that exist for them locally. They have fashion shows, art shows, entertainment and guest speakers on a monthly basis.
The luncheons are held every Tuesday and second and fourth Thursdays at the San Moritz Lodge at noon. Each meal is nutritionally balanced. If you need help on getting to the senior luncheon at the San Moritz Lodge, Mountain Transit’s Dial-a-Ride program can get you there, but riders must schedule at least two hours in advance to get there on time. Usually, between 75 to 110 persons attend each luncheon. It is a great opportunity to socialize, which is a healthy activity for everyone.
The Stuff Your Spud dinner will be held at Leisure Shores at 24658 San Moritz Drive in Crestline, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25. For more information, call the office at Leisure Shores during office hours at (909) 338-5036.
