David Milligan, one of the owners of Refresh, A Retreat on the Mountain at 536 Dart Canyon Road, invited the Crestline-Lake Gregory Chamber of Commerce to hold their January board meeting at the facility.
The chamber has set dates for the spring and summer events and is currently scheduling planning meetings and assigning community members to committees to coordinate the activities.
The annual Duck Derby – which still needs to be approved by the new management company – is scheduled for Saturday, April 11. It will again be held on the South Shore beach so viewers can be up close and next to the track to urge their duck along. The chamber is lining up sponsors and nonprofits that want to be involved in the event, which also offers a free community Easter Egg hunt for kids under the age of 12.
It costs the chamber about $3,000 for the eggs and candy. Sponsors are needed, with sponsorships beginning at $100. Volunteers are also needed to put out the eggs and coordinate the kids during the egg hunt. Businesses that want to get involved or become a sponsor or sell Duck Derby tickets in their stores should contact the chamber office Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Michelle Hake is already coordinating the annual Corks & Hops event, which will be held the first Saturday of each month, beginning in June. “It’s going to be the best year yet. We’ve been analyzing the feedback from last year’s participants and actually several families have moved to our area after discovering Crestline during this event.
“We will need some community volunteers on the day of the event,” Hake said, “and committees to coordinate the bands, booths, merchants, pour stations and the breweries.”
Jamboree Days weekend will include fireworks on Friday night, July 3, and the annual parade on Saturday, July 4 at 10 a.m. with booths along the streets that afternoon. The planning meetings for Jamboree Days will begin in February.
The Crestline chamber will be issuing its new member directory in February. If a business is not already a chamber member, the deadline for joining and getting into the 2020 directory is quickly approaching. The chamber office is located on Lake Gregory’s shore at 24385 Lake Drive. Email them at [email protected].
The Crestline Magazine spring/summer edition is now being put together and will be issued before Memorial Day weekend, according to chamber President Louis Boehle. The magazine topics covered will showcase the positives in the community.
The chamber is currently assembling its community discount card, which allows residents who purchase the card to get discounts at various businesses in town. The chamber is currently soliciting businesses to be listed on the card, with 20 spots on the card being one-time uses; four offer a continuing use discount each time visiting the business. Those businesses that want to be involved need to call the chamber office at (909) 338-2706 as soon as possible as only a few spaces on the cards are still available.
