A fun family Bubbles on the Lake walk around Lake Gregory is being planned by Delanna Covarrubias, who runs The Sourest Lemon, which has been providing food and meals for mountain residents during the pandemic.

Bubbles on the Lake is designed to enable families to share a late morning or early afternoon walk around the lake on Saturday, with bubble wands and bubble guns spreading bubbles into the air for fun.

“We will have three stations set up along the shore of the lake near the free parking lots with bubble solutions and wands,” said Covarrubias. During the food distributions they have been doing since the Coronavirus hit in March, they always try to give a little toy to the kids. “They always asked for bubbles,” she added.

“We are not anticipating the children blowing air into the bubbles,” Covarrubias said. “Since we will be wearing masks, bubble blowing would be difficult. The wands make very nice and bigger bubbles,” she added.

Saturday’s walk around the lake will be celebrating the ending of summer, since school began last week. It will be a great family outing with others in the community, but in a socially distanced way.

The booths will be on the lower walking paths around Lake Gregory. One will be near the shore across from the Lake Gregory Education and Community Center, one across from 7-Eleven at the corner of Lake and Lake Gregory Drives and the third one should be in the south parking lot of Lake Gregory, near the entrance to the walking trail. If a fourth one is possible, it may be either be on the shore near the San Moritz Lodge or Lake Gregory Dam.

The idea is just to walk around the lake and spread bubbles and joy while walking. Anyone who wants to may bring their own music to enhance the walk.

“Doing things with your kids outside in our beautiful community is a good, positive, family bonding experience, and is needed more than ever this year,” Covarrubias added. This free event is the first of several activities The Sourest Lemon is planning.

Just arrive around 11 a.m. at Lake Gregory with your children and masks to join in. “We invited all to come enjoy the Bubbles on the Lake walk around Lake Gregory. It should be a fun morning out in the beautiful clear mountain air with others, while socially distancing,” Covarrubias said.
