Alexander De Leon, the head drum major at Rim of the world High School, has done a remarkable job this year.

Alex was able to lead his band to victory at the Placentia Heritage Parade and the Pomona Christmas Parade. The band received third place in each competition, out of the dozens that competed. On top of that, Alex himself placed third and fourth in the drum major categories.

In addition to Alex’s prowess as a leader of our Marching Scots, he was recently accepted into a regional drum major competition. This competition, run by the Student Academy of Musical Leaders, pulls drum majors from across Southern California to compete in the various and specific skills of the drum major’s art.

There are a series of competitions held throughout the spring, which successively gets harder as each level is completed.

We are proud to announce that our very own Alexander De Leon has placed fifth in this first round of the regional competition! This is a huge accomplishment that shows just how dedicated Alex is to his craft, as well as how determined he is to be a successful leader.

Congratulations, Alex! We are rooting for you in the following rounds of this competition!
