A woman, whose identity is being withheld, was robbed and defrauded at Lake Arrowhead Village around 2 p.m. on Monday, July 15 by a suspect identified as Gabriel Perez.
Authorities said Perez allegedly stole the woman’s purse and a bag from her while her trunk was open and used a credit card found in the woman’s purse to purchase $420 in merchandise from the Coach Outlet store, also in Lake Arrowhead Village.
A sheriff’s spokesperson told the Alpine Mountaineer on Wednesday (July 17) that Perez was transported to the Sheriff’s Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, where he was booked on burglary, theft and fraud charges.
The penalty for burglary (PC 459), a felony offense in California, is two, four or six years’ imprisonment, while the penalty for felony theft is three years in state prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both a fine and a prison term. The penalty for committing felony fraud is a term of one to five years in county jail and/or a fine of up to $50,000, or double the amount of fraud, whichever is greater.
