Saturday, Aug. 31 marks the 75th anniversary of Twin Peaks Masonic Lodge #711. To celebrate, the Masons are playing host to the 74th annual Twin Peaks community barbecue.
Since 1950, the Twin Peaks Masonic Lodge has been hosting this annual event in its parking lot, adjacent to the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station. From 2 to 7 p.m., there will be four vendors offering both meat and vegan fare, including the ever-popular Buddy’s BBQ, rendering cheese nachos, beef brisket, pulled pork and barbecued ribs, with sauce included, as well as wine, craft beer and soda pop to help wash it all down.
Children of all ages, of course, are invited to this traditional Labor Day weekend event. According to Ken Witte, former Master and current secretary of the Twin Peaks Lodge, this will be a fun, family event, designed to bring the community together. Witte added that there will be a raffle with all proceeds going to the lodge’s Scottish Rite, which aims to improve its members and their communities by teaching and upholding the principles of charity, tolerance, brotherly love and truth. It also provides grants and scholarships.
