The spooktacular Mountain History Museum is happening on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., although the museum is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This family friendly event has the museum decorated with spooky characters around every corner, along with the local history you would expect. Everyone is invited to attend in costume if they wish.

There will be arts and crafts designed around the spooky season, a scavenger hunt with prizes and special movies in the theater, with It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown running every half hour and the movie Mad Monster Party running at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday they will be serving hotdogs and lemonade, with ice cream on Sunday.

Entry to the museum, located at 27176 Peninsula Drive at the corner of Rhine Road in Lake Arrowhead, is always free.

The focus of the museum is the story of the local towns, the forest and its animals and its social history, plus the movies made locally.  They have begun their fall sale in the gift store for those beginning their holiday shopping, with 10 percent off for everyone and 20 percent off for museum members . This museum is all volunteer run, by members of the Rim of the World Historical Society and operated as a community benefit organization.
