The Heisler Rim Community Theater has chosen a Halloween show for the weekend of Oct. 25 through 27 you’ve never seen before, with a live local version of Night of the Living Dead. Experience this classic tale as never before as it is brought locally to you through live theater. Most remember the classic horror story, but no one has ever seen it like this before.
When the movie version was about to be released 56 years ago, it was initially named Night of the Flesh Eaters, but just days before the release it was changed to Night of the Living Dead and went on to become a cult classic. The movie varies only slightly from the playscript but, since the show is in the public domain, the Heisler Theater has taken some liberties for modern theatrical and local impact.
“Witness George Romero’s iconic horror story unfold before your eyes in a pulse-pounding performance that will leave you breathless,” promises Director Jeff Heisler.
There are numerous Crestline and Arrowhead references in the show, which will include some old video and sound used in the background. Plus, Heisler Theater, in their video backgrounds, have included segments filmed in the mountain communities (was it in your backyard?).
The Night of the Living Dead cast is: Ben, Jeff Heisler; Barbara, Becky Ikenberry; Harry, Alan McNeil; Helen, Gaye Gamble-Heisler; Johnnie/TV Newscaster, Mark Lujan Trujillo; Karen, Samm Star; Sheriff McClelland, Michael Brewer; Tom, Michael Farris; Reporter/Radio/Zombie, Stephen Sandlin; Patrolman, Brandon Brown; Zombie, Cassandra Pate; and many, many zombies.
The show is directed by Jeff Heisler with Gaye Gamble-Heisler as the assistant to the director. The zombie coordinator is Shari Spencer; show coordinator, Dana Merola; Tech, Matthew Merola and Alex May; Stage Tech, Lori Uhler.
They invite you to come see Night of the Living Dead, enacted live (or should they say dead?) on stage with performances on Oct. 25, 26 and 27 at the Tudor House in Arrowhead Villas. There will be a costume contest each show for audience members. On Friday and Saturday, dinner is at 5:30 p.m. with showtime at 7:00. On Sunday lunch will be served at 3:00 p.m. with the matinee showtime at 4:00 p.m. The meals will be pasta with meatballs provided by Rocky’s Roadhouse.
Early bird tickets (the first 100 sold) are now available at https://www.Heislertheater.com at $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and children free. Prices go up to $20 for adults and $15 for seniors as the play date gets closer and the theater audience fills up.
