Alan Kaitz, the president of the Arrowhead Lake Association board of directors, sent this update to association members on Oct. 22:
Good morning, ALA Members:
I hope this message finds you all in great spirits and ready to tackle the day. I’m excited to share some important news as we approach budget season.
We’re pleased to announce that the ALA and all defendants have reached a settlement agreement regarding the Vertical Web Ventures lawsuit (commonly known as the STR lawsuit). In line with this agreement, the Preliminary Injunction we’ve been following will now become a Permanent Injunction.
What does this mean for us? Simply put, everything will continue to operate smoothly on our private lake, just as it has been. It’s reassuring to have this stability as we move forward.
It’s also important to remember that, in addition to the guidelines outlined in the Permanent Injunction, the regulations established in 1964 remain fully in effect. This empowers the ALA to implement and enforce reasonable regulations that ensure the safety, health, comfort, and convenience of everyone enjoying our beautiful Lake and its surroundings. We are committed to promoting an outstanding experience for all our residents and guests.
In the spirit of community, I encourage all property owners in Arrowhead Woods – whether you’re an ALA member or not – to extend the same warmth and respect to our fellow property owners, lessees, and guests on ALA property that you would hope to receive. A friendly neighborhood spirit truly makes our community flourish!
I’d also like to take a moment to recognize the tremendous effort our Board has put in, particularly under the leadership of David Dahl. Their dedication in negotiating this settlement has been inspiring, and we believe it serves the best interests of all ALA members. While some aspects of the agreement are confidential at the request of the Plaintiffs, please know that the Board viewed this as a vital step toward a positive resolution.
Looking ahead, the ALA and all of us in Arrowhead have many important projects on the horizon, including the Lake Valve Project. By resolving this matter, we’re allowing our Board to shift their focus to these essential initiatives rather than getting entangled in disputes over issues beyond our control.
Thank you all for your continued support and commitment to our community. Your involvement makes a significant difference! Together, we can keep Arrowhead a beautiful, welcoming place to live and enjoy.
Wishing you all a wonderful day ahead.
In a further update, the ALA board of directors noted that, under the Preliminary Injunction, people who rent residences in Arrowhead Woods for a period of less than 30 days (short-term rental clients) to access Lake Arrowhead and the reserve strips. The Appellate court upheld the trial courts’ ruling. In light of these rulings, ALA and the individual defendants have settled with the plaintiffs to end the lawsuit and, in so doing, make the Preliminary Injunction “permanent.” That injunction is available for members to review on the ALA website.
