Tis’ the season in Green Valley Lake! The Mountain Community Alliance hosted a holiday potluck and artisan boutique on Dec. 14. Locals gathered in the Green Valley Lake clubhouse to peruse a selection of handmade items and enjoy a meal later in the evening.

The annual event began with a local artisan boutique. Creators from Green Valley Lake and a few from neighboring mountain communities were set up to sell their wares. That’s Hott Candle Co. and Juniper Candle Co. were each selling their hand-poured candles. Bread Above the Clouds had some delicious, homemade sourdough loaves. Falling Leaf Studio was showcasing handcrafted jewelry, and Spools by Judy offered customized Green Valley Lake items. Guests were excited to shop for festive items made by locals.

Later in the evening, people began arriving for dinner, caroling and a raffle. The MCA provided ham and guests were encouraged to bring their favorite side dishes. The event typically hosts about 80 people for the potluck – a great way to get the community together to celebrate the holidays. Live Christmas music was played by MCA President Patrick Huckaby, Sandi Huckaby and Grace Monsma throughout the day and evening. Nothing makes the holiday season feel cozy like dining and singing with friends and neighbors.

The festively decorated clubhouse was buzzing with conversation as folks enjoyed a ham dinner with a variety of side dishes.

After dinner the raffle and caroling commenced. Those who wished to purchased a ticket for the charity raffle and waited excitedly for the numbers to be called. The prizes were donated by local businesses.

The sound of Christmas carols ended the evening; guests sang together and even got up in front with the band. Spirits were high and the community was grateful for a festive evening together.
