A number of businesses – including two churches – stepped up during the power outages, inviting folks to come in, get warm and get recharged.

The Lake Arrowhead Community Presbyterian Church invited the community to use its facility during the power outages. They posted on Facebook:

“We warmly invite you to join us at LACPC today! Whether you need a cozy place to stay warm, a friendly community to connect with or just somewhere to recharge – both your devices and your spirit – our doors are open to you and the community. We have power, heat and WiFi. And we have a gym where kids could play.

“While we’re not sure how long this will last, we’ll navigate it together. Feel free to extend this invitation to your family, neighbors and anyone in the community who could use a little extra care right now.

“Our normal hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but we will likely stay open after that if there is a need. We are located at 351 S. State Highway173 in Lake Arrowhead (above Fire Station 91 and the new gas station).”

During the power outages, LACPC had as many as 25 people who came to warm up and recharge. They were able to help themselves to coffee and tea and a couple of church members even made and served tomato soup!

The Lake Gregory Church is open on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and has a generator and heat. They are located at 460 Pine Drive in Valley of the Moon, Crestline.

They invited people to come stay warm while the power was out, at times other than their meetings and services.

California Bank & Trust in Crestline also has a little lobby room where a few folks many sit during their open hours.

The new bookstore in Town, Paper and Clay, which is open Thursday through Sunday, also has a generator and welcomes some customers to come in out of the cold and sit and read.

San Marzano at 23575 Lake Drive at Fern in Crestline has a generator and welcomes visitors to come by and play their video games and relax, when the power is out. “It will take a half hour after the power goes out for us to get there, if it is not regular open hours, but we will be there.”

UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge invited folks to warm up and recharge at the lodge. They also offered a discount to local residents on dining and lodging.

LuluBelle’s Coffee House and Bakery in Running Springs also invited the community to come to enjoy a pastry and hot drink, recharge their devices and use their WiFi. They even posted their generator would run all night and folks could come and use their outdoor plugs as well as access their WiFi.

Following the second power outage, LuluBelle’s posted on Facebook: “We think it’s safe to say the last week or so has been really heavy for so many reasons. We really want to thank everyone who spent the last few days with us when the mountain was without power. And for those who sought refuge from the fires – our hearts are with you. We’re glad to be part of this community. Seeing you all share tables, chargers, support and friendship over the last few days has been really nice to see.”
