Crestline Comics celebrated their first anniversary on Saturday, May 3 – National Free Comic Book Day – at their location on Forest Shade Road in Crestline. They had popcorn, over a dozen free titles of comic books, candy, ice cream and lots of visitors.

A family with children from Twin Peaks choose which free comics they want.
The Kellis family, owners of Crestline Comics, were thrilled at the positive response and the crowds of people who came to celebrate with them. The merchandise in their store has more than doubled in this last year and they have expanded their product lines to include more than just comics, but also graphic novels, cards, role-playing and board games, statues, toys and more.
At 6 p.m. the drawing for the first-anniversary gift raffle basket was drawn. In the basket were comics, Magic the Gathering cards, a collectable statue of Jack Skellington, Manga Books, D&D cards and items, and much more. The basket was held by customer Juan Nunez of Crestline, as Julia Kellis drew the winning name from the collector’s mug filled to the brim with the tickets from the customers that day.
When she looked at the ticket, she was surprised because there was just a first name and phone number. Ismael will be notified by phone to come and get the huge raffle basket next week, as he was not present when the ticket was drawn live on Instagram. Nunez was disappointed he didn’t win, but he had been able to purchase a wonderful collector’s statue earlier in the day and felt fortunate to have found it and was able to get it.
Julia Kellis was pleased the day had such lovely weather as she sat in front of the store at 580 Forest Shade Road, Unit #10 in Crestline, across from the tennis courts, and gave out the free comic books, popcorn and more to all the children, teens and adults who came by.
