Mountains Community Hospital Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Lori Newman to its board of directors. Lori and her husband, Eric, also a mountain native, have enjoyed part-time residency in Lake Arrowhead for the past 13 years and recently made the move back full-time. Lori brings with her a lifelong connection to the mountain community, a spirit of giving back deeply rooted in family tradition and a successful career in marketing and business ownership.

A proud Rim High School graduate, Lori went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of San Diego before founding her Silicon Valley-based marketing company, Mark It Promotions, in 2002. What began as a small operation in her garage quickly grew into a thriving business serving both Fortune 500 companies and small businesses, helping them build meaningful connections through creative promotional strategies. Many of Lori’s earliest clients continue to work with her today, a testament to her integrity and expertise.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lori has always been an active and compassionate community leader. In her early years she was president of her HOA, helping to navigate the homeowners through a complex litigation. She chaired her daughters’ school’s year-long 50th anniversary celebration, organizing multiple events and co-authoring a book chronicling the school’s rich history. She also served five years on her parish council, guiding the church through a capital campaign, always with an eye toward collaboration and progress. Continuing her commitment to community involvement, she was recently elected to the board of the Lake Arrowhead Country Club.

Lori’s commitment to service is inspired by her parents, who were long-time donors and advocates for Mountains Community Hospital. “Growing up, I watched my parents give their time and resources to causes that strengthened our community,” Lori shared. “They always said the hospital was the heart of the mountain – a place we simply couldn’t live without.” Her family’s philanthropic spirit runs deep; her uncle, the late Paul Newman, was a renowned actor and humanitarian whose charitable legacy continues to inspire millions.

“Joining the Mountains Community Hospital Foundation board feels like coming full circle,” Lori said. “I believe real change happens when we give back to the place we call home. The hospital and its foundation are at the heart of this community, and I’m honored to be part of something that makes such a lasting difference.

The Foundation’s board of directors is composed of dedicated community members committed to ensuring access to high-quality healthcare in the mountain region. Everyone who joins the Foundation’s board is passionate about the hospital and is deeply committed to making it a better place.

The members of the Foundation’s executive committee include Peter Venturini, president; Mark Turner, MCH CEO; Yvonne Wggener, treasurer; Kim McGuire, secretary; Jack Herson; Bob Malaone, Rob Roy and Gloria Wolen.

The Foundation board also includes Tom Bachman, Dennis Brown, Amy Doutt, Leslie Marks, Bob Mattison, Howard Miller, Don Mitchell, Greg Naylor, Neale Perkins, Dennis Popka, Midge Reisman, Susan “Sparky” Sparks, Ines Stewart, Ronalyn Walker and Lynne Wilson.

Since 1991, the MCH Foundation has been instrumental in raising millions of dollars to support Mountains Community Hospital in meeting the evolving needs of healthcare. Today, as patient volume reaches record highs and expenses surge by over 50 percent in the last decade, donations are more crucial than ever.

MCH depends on the generosity of donors to implement improvements that surpass what patient revenue alone can achieve. This support is not just beneficial but vital to the hospital’s health, especially in a landscape where many rural hospitals are scaling back or even closing entirely, leaving remote populations stranded without nearby medical care.

Thanks to the generosity of community members and charitable foundations, MCH not only survives but thrives, continually enhancing services for those who rely on it. Over the next six years, the hospital plans to:

  • Build a new acute care wing to meet the California state seismic deadline by 2030
  • Expand parking
  • Establish an education center for the community and staff
  • Increase the size of the Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Enhance the aesthetics and functionality of both exterior and interior spaces to improve the patient experience and meet regulatory standards.

Construction on the new acute care wing is slated to commence in 2026. For further details on these projects, please reach out to Kim McGuire at (909) 436-3263 or visit www.mchcares.com. If you’re interested in joining a dedicated group of individuals making an impact on community healthcare, please contact Foundation Board President Peter Venturini at pventuri@mac.com.
