Other’s trash was the Green Club’s treasure on May 2 during the club’s Garbage-athon.

During the fundraiser, members of Rim High’s Green Club picked up the garbage littered around their school. For every bag of trash collected, they earned money through sponsors.

Despite the sudden fog and cold, they grabbed their gloves and bags and got to work around the highway first, where the most trash had accumulated. Once the grass had been freed of litter, they made their way around the school and the edge of the surrounding forest, climbing up hills and in and out of ditches to pick up the piles of garbage.

Once finished, Burrtec helped properly dispose of the trash by taking it to the local dump.

The students collected a total of six bags of trash in only a couple of hours and managed to raise over $300. The money raised will go to funding more Green Club events, such as the soon-to-be garden at Rim.

The Green Club is doing their best to better their environment one trash pick-up at a time!
