Celebrating art and friendship

First Fridays at The Lake House are a celebration of friendship and fine art. Join this month’s featured artists – Irma Redman and Gary Glibbery – on Nov. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m.
While visiting with the artists and admiring their work, guests can enjoy some beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
Irma Redman has had a lifelong interest in glass art. She jumped at the chance to take a glass workshop at UCR 25 years ago. She learned techniques to create leaded glass windows, then learned the copper foil technique and has now become an expert in this technique.
Redman has since taught herself mosaic glass art and the art of glass fusion. Her pieces are hand cut and hand set, then fired in a 1500-degree kiln over a 12-hour period.
Four years ago, Redman and her husband made the move to Lake Arrowhead full time. She is extremely happy creating and sharing her glass art in her new mountain community.
Gary Glibbery was born in Surrey, England, and moved to Southern California as a child. He lives in Lake Arrowhead with his wife and daughter. His creative passion began in grade school when he began building model boats from scratch. He has won awards for his Gloucesterman Schooner and his tugboat models.
Glibbery enjoys working in a variety of artistic disciplines: pyrography, wood carving, furniture making, metal sculpting and building industrial style lighting. He finds inspiration for his pyrography and carvings from the natural beauty of wildlife and nature found in Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding areas.
An avid collector of antique hand tools, Glibbery prides himself on using them to create his unique functional art pieces. He takes satisfaction in following in the footsteps of craftsmen of the past – keeping alive what soon could be a lost art.
Ten percent of all sales during the First Friday event will be donated this month to the Rim of the World Educational Foundation.
The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. For more information, call (909) 337-7676 or visit www.lakehousecollection.com.
