Members of the Rim of the World Masonic Lodge 711 invite the public to their 73rd installation ceremony.
The celebration will begin at 4 p.m. on Dec. 27, the traditional day for the feast of Saint John the Evangelist. Dating back to the 18th century, this is a day most Freemasons celebrate and has typically been used to hold installations of presidents and grand masters. This day also symbolizes the movement from darkness to light through lengthening days.
The ritual is imitated in many other service organizations, but this impressive ceremony is rich in custom, steeped in history and is a very formal affair. The officers are dressed in tuxedos or suits and ornamented with aprons and jewels. Many of the tools of Masonry are explained during the ceremony.
Being installed are Richard Pumerantz, PM, master; Johnny Royal, senior warden; Chester Olson, PM, junior warden; Dale Newton, treasurer; Ken Witte, PM, secretary; Aaron Creighton, PM, chaplain; Cliff Beacham, senior deacon; Gary Bothman, junior deacon; Johnny Wells, PM, marshall; Kurt Huddleston, senior steward; Alex Vallejos, junior steward; Manuel Martinez, tiler.
Following the 45-minute ceremony will be a feast, known as the Saint John feast, of turkey, ham and chicken.
An RSVP is required – call (909) 999-7112 or send an email to rimoftheworldlodge711@gmail.com for reservations.
The lodge is located at 26012 Highway 189 in Twin Peaks, next to the sheriff’s station.
