When Lake Arrowhead Christian School begins the school year on Sept. 2, it will be in a different location – but not an unfamiliar one. This fall, LACS is returning to the campus of Calvary Chapel Lake Arrowhead, where the school resided for 26 years from 1980 to 2006. For the past 14 years the school’s home has been the campus of Twin Peaks Christian Conference Center. However, LACS is going “back to the future” to continue pursuing its mission of “Building the Character of Christ in Students Since 1978.”
In the spring of 2025, LACS learned that Twin Peaks Christian Conference Center was being listed for sale by Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, owner of the property. The school had one year to seek its new home. Through lots of prayer and discussion, the school accepted the generous invitation from Pastor Miles Ornelas and the congregation at Calvary Chapel Lake Arrowhead, welcoming the school back to the campus at 101 Grandview Road in Twin Peaks.
Along with a new location, there will also be a new leadership team in place: LeeAnn Tallman takes over as principal and Dr. Gary Gerstner steps in as dean. Tallman is an eight-year teaching veteran at LACS, whose three daughters attended through eighth grade. Dr. Gerstner comes to LACS after a 30-year career as an administrator in the Garden Grove school district.
LACS will also be governed by a new school board of longtime mountain residents and supporters: Janny Spradley (chair), Ann Aley and Beth Cooper. Spradley’s parents, Randy and Jan Leonard, founded the school in 1978. Spradley graduated from LACS and later returned as a teacher, teacher-trainer and accreditation supervisor. Both of her children graduated from LACS. Aley taught for 40 years at LACS, while her two children graduated from the school. Both of Cooper’s children also attended and graduated LACS, while her husband, Steve, taught for more than 20 years at the school.
Lake Arrowhead Christian School aims to continue the legacy of quality Christian education begun on the mountain in 1978. The school offers a full K-8 academic program, with Bible curriculum, chapel services, art and choir. For middle-school students, LACS offers Eagles athletics, an interscholastic sports program including boys and girls cross-country, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track, girls softball and boys baseball.
