Barry Hoy manned the grill on the 2019 Kitchen Tour. This year, he and his wife, Jeanne, will feature the grilled flavors of Argentina.

The Lake Arrowhead Kitchen and International Tasting Tour will return this fall after a COVID-induced hiatus.
The tour was originally a fundraiser under the auspices of the mountain chapter of People to People, an organization dedicated to “Peace Through Understanding.” The tour will now be sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead with the same philosophy of international peace and understanding of other cultures.
At the “heart of the home” is the kitchen, where many possibly momentous events take place around the hearth or the table. The kitchen is where good company and wonderful foods are shared. All around the world, the atmosphere of camaraderie and comfort are associated with the kitchen and food.
The Lake Arrowhead Kitchen Tour has foods with international themes prepared by food enthusiasts. Over the years of the tour, participants have enjoyed foods from all continents (except Antarctica, of course).
On this year’s tour – scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7 – guests will enjoy the kitchens of five generous hosts and hostesses.
At the home of Jeanne and Barry Hoy, guests will enjoy the grilled flavors of Argentina. Ronda and Jay Rynda will open their home with the flavors and smells of Portugal. The members of the Mountain Jewish Community – at the home of Renee and Sid Lewis – will share refreshing foods from the Mediterranean and Israel. At Lorna Polley’s home, she and her team will prepare Scandinavian delectable. The fifth culinary treat is the mystery kitchen.
At each home, guests will sample teas from the geographic area being featured. A complimentary glass of wine will be served at each home between 3 and 4 p.m.
This is a driving tour, with no particular order to the homes. Carpooling is always a good idea.
All proceeds from the tour will be used by the Rotary club to promote scholarships to Rim-area students, to support community projects and humanitarian projects around the world.
Only 200 tickets will be sold at $60 per person. They will be available at The Lake House in Cedar Glen and on the Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead’s website (https://portal.clubrunner.ca/7199).

Dear Cheryl, I want to express how much we enjoyed the Heart of the Home kitchen tour on Saturday. At each house tea was served from the TeaSource. I especially enjoyed the Scarlet O’Peara tea. I asked them where I could buy this. They said it was sold at a shop in the Village. I have been to almost every shop and can not find it. Can it be bought locally. I would truly appreciate your response.
