Dawn Grantham is the new general manager for the Crestline Sanitation District (CSD), unanimously appointed to the leadership role by the board on Oct. 31. She is the second female general manager for the district.
Her appointment came as no surprise. The board had named her as assistant general manager in September of 2022, following the news then general manager Rick Dever would be retiring in January 2023.
The board also was aware that the incoming general manager at the time, Ron Scriven, was having serious health problems. Those problems eventually would claim his life.
Grantham is no stranger to the district, having joined the agency in June 2011 in the position of Clerk II.
Her role grew over time, taking on such responsibilities as overseeing payroll and human resources.
“My role is not to step in and tell people how to do their job; it’s to tell them what is needed and let them do what they need to do to get the job done,” she said.
As she and the district approach a new year, Grantham is working to develop a new master plan with updates for ongoing projects.
She also will be overseeing the final steps in the remodel of Huston Creek Treatment Plant in Crestline.
“We’re almost done,” she said. “Our goal is to have the full setup completed in August 2024.”
Another goal of hers is to develop succession planning and to encourage employees to work at getting certified for the position above them.
“That way, if we have a vacancy in the position above them, that person can step into it,” she added.
Crestline Sanitation District has a total of 20 employees.
