Cydney Thrash, a beloved member of the Women’s Club of Lake Arrowhead, was the driving force behind the club’s Wine-O Bingo fundraisers.
It seemed only right, then, that the club gathered at its March 20 meeting to pay homage to their late member and play Wine-O Bingo in her honor.
“She was a character,” Martha Bush said of her friend. “Cydney was smart, funny, kind and outrageous. She liked to laugh. We all loved her.
“She loved to get a rise out of people,” Bush added.
But she also had a kind side, Bush noted. “She would take meals to a member who was bedridden. And she loved her pets. She took showers with one of her birds. Another bird greeted her by name every morning. She is greatly missed.”

John Coumans listens as Cathie Castaneda talks about her friend and his late wife.
“We had so much fun together,” Cathie Castaneda said. “We played Yahtzee out on my deck.”
Thrash’s husband, John Coumans, told her friends they had described her perfectly. “She was beautiful, smart and funny. You don’t get any better than that.”

Hostess Lorna Polley called Wine-O Bingo in honor of Cydney Thrash.
The fun began then, with hostess Lorna Polley calling Wine-O Bingo, with names of varietals rather than numbers. As the women started keeping close watch on their cards, they raised their glasses in Cydney Thrash’s honor.
