Enjoy art and fellowship while supporting ‘Service Above Self’

First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.

The Oct. 4 event will feature the work of painter Julie R. Evans and potter and jeweler Marcelle.

Julie R. Evans prefers to work in oils, painting realistic scenes that are little slices of life. Her main inspiration is the natural world and day-to-day life. She is often struck by spontaneous observations that yield successful paintings. Her landscapes convey a feeling of calm and serenity, a place for quiet contemplation.

The influence of Native American art can be seen in Marcelle’s porcelain pieces.

Marcelle has had her hands in clay for more than 50 years; she is essentially self-taught. She achieves the delicate and translucent quality of her porcelain in a high fired electric kiln. Nature, American Indian, Art Deco and history all influence her work. Her talent extends, as well, into creating ire jewelry with precious metals, antique beads, pearls and shells as “wearable art.”

Each month Robin Lyles, owner of The Lake House, donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation – which operates under Rotary International’s motto of “Service Above Self” – will be the Oct. 4 beneficiary.

Stop by The Lake House from 4 to 7 p.m. to enjoy some appetizers, wine and fine art on Oct. 4. Chat with the artists, learn more about the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation and catch up with your neighbors.

The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. Call (909) 337-7676 or visit www.LakeHouseCollection.com for more information.
