Have you dreamed of attending the Oscars (or even of winning one yourself)? Do you have a favorite movie or movie character?
Dream no longer! This year’s Rim of the World Educational Foundation gala is themed “Rim Ed Goes to the Movies.” Guests will walk the red carpet and are encouraged to come dressed either ready to take the stage and accept that golden statue or as their favorite movie character.
At this fundraiser, guests will hear from several Rim High students who have benefited from the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program and the CTE (Career Technical Education) classes that Rim Ed helps support. Listen as these young people explain how this program and these classes have changed their outlook on life and their plans for the future.
After enjoying some canapes in the lobby, guests will retire to the ballroom where they will savor a buffet of movie-themed delicacies: wedge salad, sirloin steak, salmon, truffle mashed potatoes, chef-choice vegetables, rolls and tiramisu.
There will a silent auction as well as reverse auction, when Rim Ed’s guests can pledge donations to help keep these programs – and Rim Ed’s Partnership with Schools awards – afloat.
And there will be live music as well as movie trivia.
The gala will take place on Sunday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lake Arrowhead Resort. For tickets and more information, visit www.rimedfoundation.org.
