Green Valley Lake’s Summer Faire in the community garden on June 14 was a day of music and fun times with family and friends.
The day began with a sound bath meditative experience with Crystal Nieblas, followed by a program on dandelions and perennial herbs that grow in the mountains by Raven Womak.
The anchor of the day was a performance by Wake the Bard, who took the stage from noon to 4 p.m. In addition to the traditional Irish tunes they are known for, they also played songs by Neil Young and John Prine (a special request from Dean Langley, who was manning the bake sale table).
Wake the Bard is made up of Patrick Huckaby on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals; Sandi Huckaby on hammered dulcimer and mountain dulcimer; Margaret Leahy on violin and vocals; Liz Chesney on guitar, piccolo and vocals; and Chris Chesney on bodhran, mandolin and violin.
That bake sale table had delicious homemade treats for sale, including raspberry tarts. Complimentary iced tea, lemonade and water were also available.
Several vendors had booths set up outside the garden. They were selling handmade fabric items, jewelry, candles and bread.
The Summer Faire, which concluded with contra dancing, is a presentation of the Mountain Community Alliance.

Sharon DiSanto was one of the vendors at the Summer Faire
