Residents of Lake Arrowhead and nearby mountain communities are warmly invited to join the Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead, the Rotary Club of Mountain Sunrise, and the Rotary E-Club of World Peace for a very special event: the dedication ceremony of a Peace Pole on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Arrowhead Ridge on Grass Valley Road. This day is the International Day of World Peace, a United Nations sanctioned holiday.

This uplifting 20-minute ceremony will feature music, reflection and the spirit of community as Rotary unveils an eight-foot obelisk Peace Pole inscribed with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Hawaiian, Mandarin Chinese, Hebrew, Vietnamese, Korean and in Braille. The Peace Pole is part of a worldwide movement, with more than 200,000 Peace Poles standing as beacons of hope in 180 countries.

Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

The Peace Pole is more than a monument – it is a call to action to live out Rotary’s values of service, compassion and unity. Each time we pass by, it will remind us of our shared responsibility to create a kinder, more peaceful world. And the world really needs this now more than ever.

This project is part of Rotary International’s ongoing commitment to promote peace through service, conflict resolution and opportunities for youth. Peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, equality and opportunity – and it begins with each of us, right here at home.
