It’s been a long time coming. Some would say it is overdue.
The issue of the traffic congestion on the off-ramp to Waterman Avenue from the 210 eastbound has been raised at Lake Arrowhead Municipal Advisory Council meetings over the years.
The off-ramp currently transitions from one lane into two, causing traffic backups on the freeway and raising the risk of collisions.
The Caltrans $7.2 million project includes several key improvements:
- Widen the eastbound off-ramp from two lanes to three.
- Modify the existing traffic signals at the Waterman Avenue intersection.
- Install new guardrail to improve roadway safety.
The project, which began this month, has an anticipated completion date of winter 2026.
Work will primarily take place during the night from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Occasional daytime work from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. may occur as needed and weekend closures may occur, also as needed.
Lane closures will primarily occur on the eastbound off-ramp. On-ramps at H and E Streets may be temporarily closed as needed for safety due to their proximity to the work area.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow for additional travel time and follow all posted construction signage. Warning signs will be in place to alert all approaching traffic of the upcoming delays.
The construction schedule is subject to change based on material availability and weather conditions.
