Snow Valley under new ownership
After weeks of speculation about Snow Valley Mountain Resort having been sold, General Manager Kevin Somes released this statement on Jan. 20:
As we celebrate Snow Valley’s 85th season of operations, today marks an important day in our storied history as Southern California’s longest continually operating resort. I am excited to announce that, as of today, Snow Valley has been acquired by Alterra Mountain Company and is now part of Big Bear Mountain Resort.
This is the next stage in Snow Valley’s future and will create Southern California’s premier multi-mountain resort experience while opening new opportunities that benefit our guests, employees and community.
Alterra Mountain Company is committed to investing in their destinations and we are excited to begin a multi-year capital plan, including upgrades to our facilities and snowmaking, that will significantly enhance the overall guest experience. Additionally, our employees will receive improved wages and benefits, which will allow us to attract and retain key talent for many seasons to come.
Please note, operations will continue as usual for the remainder of the 2022-2023 winter season with no changes to our products or services. Ikon and BBMR pass holders will be able to access Snow Valley beginning on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023.
Stay tuned for additional updates as they become available. In the meantime, we appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you on the slopes soon for some alpine good times!
Think snow!
