189 closure 2

The portion of Highway 189 from its intersection with North Bay Road by the Blue Jay Cinema to the entrance to the Lake Arrowhead Resort is closed.

Highway 189 closed until further notice

At 6:58 p.m. on March 20, Highway 189 between Blue Jay and the Lake Arrowhead Resort was closed due to a retaining wall and the westbound lane of the road having given way.

In a Facebook post at 8:58 p.m. that night, Caltrans District 8 posted that “residents who live directly within the closure will have access to go in and out at certain points. If we are working, you will be directed to go around as you cannot go directly through the work zone.”

And on March 21 at 7:16 a.m., Caltrans posted this message on Facebook: “SR-189 will remain closed until further notice. We are still conducting evaluations and trying to keep the area as dry as we can with a storm on the way.

“We are asking travelers to use SR-18 to SR-173 to get to Lake Arrowhead Village (including Stater Bros and the post office). Please be patient as we continue to work.”
