The Rim of the World Communities Scholarship Council is encouraging all high school seniors to apply for college, trade or vocational school scholarships. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the donations the council receives from the community.

Scholarships may be used for college or trade/vocational school to help cover tuition, books or other student fees.

Rim Communities Scholarship applications along with letters of recommendation are due by 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14 at the Rim High School counseling office for Rim High seniors. The same deadline applies for Mountain High School seniors to deliver their scholarship applications and letters of recommendation to the Mountain High School front office.

Applications are available to download on the Rim High School website,  www.rimsd.k12.ca.us/domain/717. Hard copies of the scholarship application are available at the Rim High counseling office for Rim High seniors. Students with questions should send an email to Stephanie_Phillips@rimsd.k12.ca.us.

Mountain High School seniors will be emailed applications directly and hard copies will also be available to pick in the Mountain High front office.

Since 1957, the Rim of the World Communities Scholarship Council has been providing monetary assistance to local graduates. The council is proud to have awarded 36 scholarships to 2022 Rim High graduating seniors for a total amount of $35,300. The council hopes to raise even more scholarship monies this year from generous community members and local organizations, so high school seniors will have the financial assistance and encouragement to help them as they continue their education.

Scholarship awards will be given out to Rim High seniors at Senior Scholarship Night on May 23 in the Rim High Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m. Scholarship awards will be given to Mountain High seniors at the Mountain High graduation ceremony on June 6.

The council is a 501C3 and encourages donations from community members, who should consult with their legal or financial advisors regarding tax deductions.

Anyone interested in donating toward a scholarship or creating a memorial scholarship to honor a loved one or family member, should contact ROWCSC, P.O. Box 1816, Blue Jay, CA 92317, send an email to rimscholarshipcouncil@gmail.com or call (909) 337-2997.
