Human skeletal remains discovered by hiker

On Friday, April 28, at 8:05 p.m., a hiker was in the area of Holiday Lane and Rim of the World Highway in Running Springs. While hiking in the forested area, the hiker discovered human skeletal remains and notified law enforcement.

Deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded and began the investigation. Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division also responded and assumed the investigation.

The scene was processed and the skeletal remains appeared to be in an advanced stage of decomposition. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
