Fatal crash on Highway 18

On Aug. 05, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol Arrowhead Area was dispatched to a crash on State Route 18, at Old Waterman Canyon Road, involving a Toyota 4Runner.

For reasons yet to be determined through the investigation, the solo driver of the Toyota traversed from the #2 southbound lane on to the right shoulder. The Toyota struck a guardrail within the right shoulder before overturning. As a result of the crash, the driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this crash is encouraged to contact Officer C. Bates at the CHP Arrowhead Area office at (909) 867-2791.
