Special Olympic athlete Jeffrey Kellems, Special Olympics Coach Susan Lockard and Special Olympic athlete Phyllis Wiggins following their silver medal win.

Athletes from the Special Olympics Rim Mountain Communities competed with 450 Special Olympians at the Special Olympics Southern California Bowling Championships at Parkway Bowl in El Cajon.

This championship was the culmination of community training and competitions for athletes from across Southern California. The athletes competed for gold, silver and bronze medals and ribbons.

Congratulations to Jeffrey Kellems and Phyllis Wiggins who brought home the silver!

The Rim athletes and coaches are grateful beyond words to Jody and Joseph Glaviano for their tremendous support and for donating the use of their lanes at Rim Bowling and Entertainment Center. They are also grateful to the Rim Bowling staff for helping the Rim Special Olympics athletes prepare and practice for their regional and championship competitions since 2016!

Anyone wishing to learn more about becoming a Special Olympics athlete should contact Special Olympics Rim Mountain Communities local program coordinator Polly Sauer at [email protected] or by phone at (909) 806-5284.
