An “Oktober Feastival” was held in Crestline in the parking lot at Roadhouse Pizza and next to the playground on Forest Shade Road from 3 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 21.

Several experimental pizzas had been developed, between Buddy’s BBQ and Roadhouse Pizza, who used Buddy’s delicious brisket as an integral part of those special pizzas. Together, they had developed a macaroni and cheese base with the brisket topping with vegetables and BBQ sauce for both an unusual and delicious taste delight.

These specialty pizzas were offered for sale and were brisk sellers, plus getting rave reviews. These pizzas were priced between $27 to $29 each, and those who bought and ate them declared them to be a bargain for the unusual and fantastic taste. They asked if this pizza could become a part of the menu.

Other food combinations had been developed for tasting during the Feastival from Oak Leaf Bakery, which were also offered for purchase. One of the popular dessert choices was Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookies, made “sandwich-style” with cinnamon-butter-cheese fillings. Erin Wilcutt, who owns Oak Leaf Bakery, was also offering bread bowl meals which Roadhouse Pizza was filling with a variety of fillings, to be chosen by the customer from a selection of 21 items, including six cheeses and fresh and sundried seeds and vegetables for prices starting at $8 and more with the add-ins.

Also offered were a wide selection of beers and wines, some from San Marzano Brewery, and hot sandwiches, plus a wide variety of beef and other jerky tastes from the new store in town. There were also several booths with custom handmade jewelry, clothing and beautiful dried flowers in resin, along with several booths with local home services such as plumbing. Almost all the booths were handing out candy.

The children and some adults were inside playing in the Roadhouse Pizza arcade, while the outside music from DJ Rocks a Lot entertained all who attended.

With the positive response from the attendees, it is now planned that the three specialty pizzas that Roadhouse and Buddy’s BBQ created together will continue to be served at Roadhouse Pizza. Buddy’s BBQ will smoke and supply the briskets and provide their special BBQ sauce for the pizzas and Roadhouse Pizza will make the mac and cheese base. Roadhouse Pizza is located at 565 Forest Shade Road in Crestline.
