December activities at Crest Forest Senior Citizens’ Club

Nov 29, 2023 | Communities

Earlier this year the Crest Forest Senior Citizens’ Club received an AED device, thanks to the efforts of County Supervisor Dawn Rowe and the late Tom Kyle, who was the club’s activities director.

An AED, or automated external defibrillator, can determine and respond to certain life-threatening cardiac emergencies. On Dec. 13 at 1 p.m., the club will be having a training class on its use so that as many members as possible are aware of how to use it in an emergency.

The AARP Safe Driving Class has been rescheduled to Dec. 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $25 ($20 if you are a member of AARP), payable at time of class. The Safe Driving Class is designed to address the unique circumstances of the mature driver – slower reaction times, safe driving at night, etc. The State of California mandates that insurance companies provide a discount to seniors who complete the class, but the amount of that discount is up to the company (some are more generous than others). Call the club’s office at (909) 338-5036 for more information.

Senior nutrition lunches at the San Moritz Lodge are served every Tuesday and Thursday at noon. They’re free (a $3 suggested contribution is appreciated) and always offer good food and fun conversation.

Since 1959, the Crest Forest Senior Citizens’ Club has offered social, educational and life-enriching activities to seniors in the mountain communities aged 50+.

Their clubhouse, Leisure Shores, is located at 24658 San Moritz Drive, near the meadow in front of the San Moritz Lodge. Please note that the club has close to 400 members, but only 32 spaces in their small parking lot. For this reason, the lot has restricted parking and non-members run the risk of a ticket if parked there.

The federal government will once again be giving out free COVID-19 home test kits. The link to request them is: https://special.usps.com/testkits.

For more information, contact the Crest Forest Senior Citizens’ Club at (909) 338-5036 or cfscc.office@gmail.com. They are on Facebook at www.facebook.com/crestforestseniors and  their website is www.crestlineseniorcitizens.org.
