Bonfire set the tone for the holiday season

Santa greets children near fire truck at night festival.

The annual bonfire held in Lake Arrowhead Village – sponsored by San Bernardino County Fire and organized this year by Russ Warren, the Explorer advisor for the Mountain Division – took place on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Santa was there, of course (1), much to the delight of children of all ages.

Local firefighters kept the three bonfires ablaze (2) and ensured safety throughout the night. The local fire stations displayed such apparatus as ambulances, Sno-Cats and off-road response vehicles, all of which dazzled the children in attendance.

Guests were able to enjoy free hot dogs and hot cocoa, served by the firefighters (3).

Local children Leland Slater and Jack Taylor (4) were excited to see one another at the bonfire, a sentiment shared by many children who were surprised when a friend arrived.
