What is the cause of homelessness? And what are the solutions?

The causes of homelessness and the solutions being used by San Bernardino County to end the issue will be the topic of a program on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.

Paul Fournier and Lori Butler – both of whom work for Lutheran Social Services – will be the speakers at the program sponsored by the Mountain Homeless Coalition. It will take place at 11 a.m. at the Lake Arrowhead Community Presbyterian Church, located at 351 Highway 173.

At the program, volunteers will be able to sign up to participate in the Point in Time Count of the unhoused, which will take place on Jan. 25. Volunteers may also sign up at https://sbchp.sbcounty.gov/community-projects/point-in-time-count/.

The Point in Time Count will start at St. Richard’s Episcopal Chuch at 9 a.m., with the volunteers out in the field from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be trainings for the Point in Time Count volunteers online on various days and times. A live in-person training will take place on Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Richard’s Church, 28708 Highway 18, Skyforest. The training will take one hour.
