Several members of the Women’s Club of Lake Arrowhead and a few friends took part in the club’s latest volunteer opportunity at Rim of the World High School’s Scot’s Lodge on Monday, Dec. 12.

Emily Reynolds, the membership vice president of the Women’s Club, coordinated the morning of organizing clothing donations for Scot’s Lodge, a stand-alone classroom at the school that provides free clothing, backpacks and hygiene supplies to school students in need.

The group spent two hours turning numerous bags of donations into neat, labeled stacks and racks of jeans, tops, jackets, scarves and shoes where students can “shop” (for free) during lunch hours and free periods.

Those who participated were Kristin Countryman, Shannon Henyan, Lynda Hobbs, Mickey Laws, Kathy Lewis, Marilyn Mays, Susan Middleton, Lorna Polley, Emily Reynolds, Barbara Tingley, Steve Valentine and Elizabeth Whitney-Olivas.

Stephanie Phillips, the school’s ROP coordinator, oversaw the effort and expressed her appreciation for the team’s efforts.

Anyone who would like to donate to Scot’s Lodge may drop off items during the school year at the high school’s security desk, located just past the red double doors. There is an ongoing need for shopping bags, trash bags, hygiene items and chapsticks, which are critical items during our winter weather season. Your volunteer time would also be welcome for organizing donations and overseeing students during their shopping time in Scot’s Lodge.
