The UCLA Mountain Bruins of Lake Arrowhead will hold their spring gala, “Come Fly with Us,” on Sunday, April 7 to raise money for their scholarship fund that supports students from Rim of the World Unified School District who now attend UCLA.
The Mountain Bruins are currently funding scholarships for the school year 2023-2024 and will be providing support to three students on scholarships.
Over the years the UCLA Mountain Bruins has supported more than 120 students from the Rim mountain communities with scholarships totaling over $400,000. The generosity of supporters makes it possible for these current and future students to realize their dream of attending UCLA and living their academic passion.
Because of the pandemic and last winter’s massive storms, the UCLA Mountain Bruins has not held a gala in three years. Their scholarship fund has been depleted and they really need everyone’s support right now.
Midge Reisman and Renee Lewis, the co-chairs of the silent and live auctions at the gala, would appreciate auction donations: gift certificates, event tickets, overnight stays. Contact them at midger@att.net and renee.lmft@gmail.com.
For donations that cannot be sent by email, contact them and they will arrange to pick up your donations. Donations may also be brought to the UCLA Mountain Bruins Meet and Greet on Sunday, Feb. 18. It will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at a private home. Send an email to uclamountainbruins@gmail.com with your name, email address and how many will attend the event. You will then be given the address before the event.
Donations to be included in the program must be submitted by March 26.
