The Crestline Chamber of Commerce is actively planning big events for the community with the intention of bringing business to the merchants in the community.

Can you believe it? It is only February and Jamboree Days planning is already in full gear for an excellent parade and fireworks event on Saturday, July 6. Dirk Rinker will again be the organizer and is coordinating the many aspects of the multi-faceted event. They have already chosen the theme of “Amazing Mountain Adventures” for the 2024 Jamboree Days events.

So far, the committee has scheduled the Jamboree Days parade for Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m. They will be accepting parade entries on the chamber website beginning in late May. It is hoped that numerous announcers will be set up along the route again, so it will be possible to hear the announcements of the floats all along Crest Forest, Fern and Lake Drives. Last year, there were over 60 entries in the parade and it is hoped more enter the parade this year. Any community member, sports team, club or business is invited to enter the parade. There will be awards for the best floats and units in the parade.

All Saturday long there will be food and other vendors, plus the stores in town will have activities and exciting items for sale. It is hoped that numerous nonprofits will have booths sharing their activities with the community. That evening, a spectacular fireworks show is scheduled to be shot over Lake Gregory, beginning at 9 p.m. It is hoped there will be numerous viewing locations and events in town that night. The beach should be opened for viewers that evening for the show, plus the whole shore of Lake Gregory will be good viewing locations of the show which will be launched from the center of the lake.

It has also been determined that, since July 4th is actually on Thursday, to extend the festivities. The free community picnic will be held on the San Moritz field on Sunday, June 30. This will enable the community members to enjoy it. The annual community picnic is an easy-going field day at the San Moritz field, encouraging family members to bring picnic lunches, maybe fly kites, and there will be relay races and other family-friendly competitions, to be determined as the month progresses.

With the community picnic on the 30th and the parade on the 6th, there will be three weekends in a row with big events in Crestline: June 30, July 6 and then the monthly Corks & Hops on July 13.

There is still plenty of time to get involved in the planning and execution of the Jamboree Days weekends. If you want to volunteer for any of the many activities, just call the chamber of commerce office at (909) 338-2706 and leave your name and contact information and how you would like to assist, or come to one of their planning meetings with your ideas at the chamber office at 24385 Lake Drive on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.

Some of the other events being planned in Crestline this spring are the Duck Derby and Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30. They are also accepting volunteers to corral the ducks and hide the eggs for the various age groups on the shore of Lake Gregory and vendors for that event. Volunteer by calling the Chamber office.

The chamber is already coordinating the monthly Corks & Hops wine and beer tasting events at various locations in Crestline. These events are family-friendly with activities for the kids and a shuttle bus that takes the participants between the pour stations from Top Town to Lake Gregory Village. Many businesses in town are open late those days and involved in the events. They will be held on June 1, July13, Aug. 3, Sept. 7 and Oct. 5. The chamber is seeking businesses that want to be pour station locations and musicians for the numerous stages and vendors. Knowing these dates, many visitors are planning their vacation days already. For tickets, go to corksnhops.com.

Crestline is able to put on these events for the community because of the many volunteers who step up and do the background work, including planning and doing the set up and take downs of the events. Call the chamber office at (909) 338-2706 and get involved in the Crestline community activities this summer.
