The Crestline Chamber of Commerce is planning numerous events for this coming season. They are currently setting up a community calendar of events and they request all organizations to send them their events to also be placed on the calendar. With a calendar set up for the full year for all organizations, fewer organizations will schedule events overlapping on the same dates. Also, this will enable visitors to know when events are occurring so they can schedule their visits and get involved in the activities.

Sara Gutierrez reported on the successful Mardi Gras Corks & Hops that had just been held at the San Moritz Lodge and all the fun the participants had. The summer Corks & Hops season begins the first Saturday of June and will continue monthly through October. They’ll need volunteers for each of the five events and also will be signing up businesses that want to be pour stations, beginning March 1. Volunteers get wrist bands to the events for their volunteerism.

To host a pour location costs each business $150 per month, with a contract for the whole season. After the pour stations are chosen, then the shuttle route and stops will be coordinated. There will be four stages for the music; artisan booths and locations are being coordinated by Gutierrez.

Chamber Vice President Michelle Hake explained that the Crestline Magazine is being worked on and ad space is currently being sold for the magazine, which will be released in late April. Some of the story topics include dog friendly locations, hiking trails, a culinary tour of the mountains, the return of Goodwin’s, Bizzyland and other stories. They expect to print between 12,000 to 15,000 copies. Ad deadline for the summer edition is March 15. The winter edition of the Crestline Magazine was mailed to 18 visitor centers and was mailed to all post office boxes in Crestline, Cedarpines Park and Twin Peaks. It is available for pickup at many local businesses, motels and Airbnbs in the mountain communities.

The Duck Derby will occur on Saturday, March 30 of Easter weekend, reported Jenna Rose. In the morning will be the egg hunts at 10:30, 11:15 and noon. At 1 p.m. will be the duck derby race. New this year is that tickets will be sold online at www.CrestlineChamber.org/DuckDerby. To adopt a duck is $5; however, the adoption of a family of five will be only $20; you can use the QR code on the posters to adopt a duck.

The Duck Derby racetrack route will be different this year, but all activities will still be on the south shore and parking will be free. They are still seeking volunteers to operate the egg hunts, craft booths and food and craft vendors who can register on the job form through March 8 and event sponsors. Call the chamber office at (909) 338-2706 for additional information.

Jamboree Days planning is going full throttle. Since July 4 is on a Thursday, the committee decided to bookend the holiday with events. The community picnic will be on Sunday, June 30 and the parade and booths in town will be on Saturday, July 6. The parade will begin in Top Town on Crest Forest Drive and will go east and then north on Fern to Lake Drive, with announcers along the route continuing to Lake Gregory, where the parade disbands. Business sponsorships are still available for Jamboree Days, from the $300 level to the $1,500 level.

On Saturday, there will be vendors, bounce houses and bands throughout town. At 9 p.m. fireworks will be shot off over Lake Gregory and the beach will be reopened at 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for those who want to get a good viewing location.  More information will be forthcoming as the event gets closer.

During Carol Kinzel’s public comments, she spoke on the amount of volunteer work the members of the Crestline Chamber board do and how the new code of conduct for Crestline Chamber members will make the board stronger and more productive. Those business owners who run for a board position must have previously served on a committee. It has been a rule since the 1950s that nonprofits cannot run for chamber positions.

The Crestline Chamber of Commerce meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the chamber office at 24385 Lake Drive and the public is welcome to attend.
