Dr. Lorann Parker, the president of the Mountain Skies Astrological Society (MSAS) had been looking forward to hosting a program on March 2 to promote her longtime goal of adding a planetarium to the MSAS Astronomy Village and Observatory, located on a hilltop adjacent to Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead.
Unfortunately, that presentation was canceled due to a rainstorm that presented itself late last Friday and intensified on Saturday.
With this in mind, Dr. Parker is willing to take a chance and reschedule the daytime program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.

“This project, when completed, will allow us the ability to hold programs, even when we can’t use the observatory because of weather conditions,” she said, adding, “Between the observatory and planetarium, we will finally be able to provide the public with a complete educational experience,”
Guests at the open house, Parker said, will be offered free tours of the facility, which will include their research grade telescope, attending a short program in the education building and a visit to the Astronomy Village’s Star Gazer’s Gift Shop, which offers out-of-this-world science toys and used telescopes for sale.
