Canceled Duck Derby will be live streamed soon

Out of concern for the safety of the public and the curve balls thrown by Mother Nature this past couple of rainy weather weekends, the Crestline Chamber of Commerce has regretfully canceled the annual Duck Derby and egg hunt for this year.

The event, traditionally scheduled for the Saturday before Easter, experienced a snowfall that day and was rescheduled for April 13, which also had rain predicted. The previous weekends of rain made the grounds unsafe for the extensive event on the south shore of Lake Gregory with hundreds of participants.

Out of respect for all those volunteers who would have been involved and the families and children who might have attended, it made the most sense to cancel without a rescheduled date.

“Despite the hundreds of hours the chamber members and volunteers worked to make it happen, rescheduling a third time is not feasible for our small team of operations and co-hosts,” announced the Chamber. “However, a  big tip of the hat goes to the Lake Gregory Company, our co-host, and a duck-sized high-five to Michelle Calkins and Associates, our premier sponsor, and to our other sponsors as well. We’d be lost without them, like ducks without a pond!”

However, hundreds had already purchased ducks for the race; so as to not disappoint them, the chamber has announced they are working to release a date shortly when they expect to run the ducks down the waterslides at Lake Gregory and livestream it. So, if you bought tickets, no need to worry – there will be a race to pick the winners for the duck raffle tickets.

“Thanks for understanding our weather-induced hiccup,” the Chamber said.
