Ballet dancers pose on stage after performance.

By Mary-Justine Lanyon

The audience sat mesmerized as the nine high school ballerinas performed dances from several of their favorite ballets.

The event was a fundraiser for the Lake Arrowhead Classical Ballet Company, held at The Tudor House on April 13.

The evening opened with Chloe Hoard dancing to the music of “Giselle.” She was followed by Julia Bobadilla (“Coppelia”), Emerson Knight and Shiloh Holzer (“La Fille mal gardee”), Nina Hidajat (“Swan Lake” – Odile/Black Swan), Sarah LaBounta (“La Esmeralda”) and Grace Stout and Ryelee Malone (“Paquita”).

After a brief intermission, Julia Bobadilla took the stage again (“Sleeping Beauty”). The next dancers were Nina Hidajat (“Awakening of Flora”), Grace Stout (“Don Quixote”), Chloe Hoard (“Raymonda”) and finally Molly Galbreath, Emerson Knight, Shiloh Holzer and Ryelee Malone in the humorous “Mistake Waltz” from “Coppelia.”

In addition to the dancers’ parents and friends, the audience was peppered with younger dancers who undoubtedly have dreams on one day dancing as exquisitely as their older peers.
