It’s time to step up and donate to community scholarships

Apr 24, 2024 | Education

The Rim of the World Communities Scholarship Council has encouraged all Rim High School and Mountain High School seniors to apply for community scholarships for college, trade or vocational schools. Those funds may be used to help cover tuition, books or other student fees. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the donations received from the community.

Since 1957, Rim of the World Communities Scholarship Council has been providing monetary assistance to local high school seniors. The Council is proud to have awarded 45 scholarships to 2023 RHS graduating seniors for a total amount of $37,000. The Council hopes to raise even more scholarship monies this year from generous community members, businesses and local organizations, so our high school seniors will have the financial assistance and encouragement to help them as they continue their education and training.

Rim of the World Communities Scholarship applications along with letters of recommendation have been submitted by seniors and interviews are scheduled. Scholarship awards will be given out to Rim High seniors at the Senior Awards Night on May 20 in the high school’s Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m. Scholarship awards will be given to Mountain High seniors at their graduation ceremony on June 4. Scholarship donors will be invited to attend this exciting event.

The Council is proud and grateful to be one of the recipients of the annual Ted Roy Charity Foundation golf tournament. Generous scholarships are provided every year, and we sincerely thank the board of the Ted Roy Charity Foundation for their donations.

The Council is reaching out and encouraging any and all donations from the caring and generous community members, businesses, clubs and service organizations across the mountain. Anyone who would like to donate for a “full scholarship” in the amount of $500 or more presented in your name, your family’s name, your business name, club or service organization is asked to contact the Council by mail at P.O. Box 1816, Blue Jay, CA 92317; by email at rimscholarshipcouncil@gmail.com; or by phone at (909) 337-2997.

The Council is a 501C3, so donors should consult with their legal or financial advisors regarding tax deductions.

The donation deadline is May 10.
