Spring Fling is “happening” at the Leisure Shores senior center at Lake Gregory in Crestline this Saturday, April 27 from 4 to 9 pm. There will be dancing, a talent show, appetizers and food, adult beverages, auctions, raffles, a trivia contest and raucous games of chance.

But that’s not all – Zac Swan will bring his amazing magic to the event. This multi-talented entertainer performs regularly at the famous Magic Castle.

“This is the first, adult (21 years old and older) event that Leisure Shores has offered, but it’s about time,” says coordinator Carrie Forbear. “All us grown-ups can celebrate and have fun like we are kids again. There will be something for everybody to do and enjoy.”

During the Spring Fling, half of the Lakeside Room will be dedicated to dancing, with the DJ playing music from the 1950s through 1980s. Those who attend are encouraged to come dressed in clothing styles from those eras. On the other end, the games of chance, the auctions and more will take place, including raffles until 7 p.m. The silent auctions will have the winners announced around 8:30 p.m.; then the live auction will commence.

There will be three huge live auctions: The first auction will offer a live musical performance by Destiny Love at a private event of your choosing. The second is “A Historical Date with Russ … One You will Never Forget,” where Russ Keller will entertain and share with a group of your family or friends a verbal historical tour of the area. “And, the third auction opportunity is even better,” said Forbear, although its topic is a secret until the night of the event, so be sure to bring your credit card as you will want to bid on it.”

The talent show will take over the Lakeside Room beginning at 7 p.m. Each participant who wants to show off their talent may reserve a five-minute timeslot for the $100 prize; just sign up at activities@thinmail.net in advance to reserve a spot, contact the Leisure Shores office as soon as possible or call (909) 338-5036.

The Fireside Pub will be set up in the Fireside Room with beer and wine for purchase. Zac Swan will mystify guests with his close-up magic and a trivia contest will challenge the guests and offer prizes.

Tickets for this fundraiser for the Crest Forest Senior Citizens’ Club are $20. They are available at the Leisure Shores office on weekdays, at the senior nutrition lunches at the San Moritz Lodge on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon and at their good-weather pop-up sales booth in front of the Crestline post office.

“Let’s have some fun together this Saturday and, once again, enjoy each other’s company. After 2023’s winter and spring we deserve to have fun this year. Let’s start this spring out right! I hope to see each of you at the Spring Fling this weekend,” added Forbear.
