The Running Springs Farmers Market and Artisan Faire opened on Saturday, April 20, with a bang. Postponed from April 6 due to bad weather, the event began with a ribbon cutting and held an Earth Day scavenger hunt and an egg hunt for the younger patrons.
Vendors arrived early and, before you know it, the field began filling up with booths and goods. Shoppers can find handcrafted art pieces, home décor, clothing and jewelry. Fruits and veggies are abundant, and you can even get a massage. It’s not just a market – the event also features live music and is situated next to a playground, making it the perfect Saturday morning outing.

Buenrostro Farams has a plethora of vegetables and eggs for sale at the farmers market.
Buenrostro Farms attends the market regularly and sells a plethora of veggies and farm fresh eggs. Faby’s Bees carries a variety of all natural bee products including honey, royal jelly and honeycomb. Angelo Ranch stocks their tables with a colorful variety of citrus and berries. Blossom Farms deals in a wide range of goods, from fresh flowers to sour dough bread. Catch a bite to eat at The Tamale Guy or Nohemi’s Catering Mexican Food. Wears the Mountain and Evelyne’s T-shirts are great places to shop for clothing.
These vendors are just a sampling of those who set up each Saturday; the options are endless. The market hosts 150 vendors each week; however, about 150 have signed up, so there is always something new and exciting to browse.
Vendors new and returning come from all over the Southern California area. Christina Hamilton, owner of Maddy’s Dog Treats, is a returning vendor from Yucaipa and enjoys the Running Springs market for its lovely local patrons. Her dog treats are hand made with all natural, human grade ingredients. You can find chicken, turkey and beef jerky treats, turkey necks, and even cow hide chews at her booth.

April 20 was the first time Christine Messer Ceramics was at the Running Springs farmers market.
Christine Messer Ceramics was a first-time vendor coming from the desert area. “I love the mountains and was excited to get out of the heat,” she said, adding that the market was recommended to her by a friend. All of her ceramic products are handmade and include items such as mugs, bowls, vases, planters and book ends.
Attendees seemed to be enjoying the beautiful weather and booths. Cheri Gray from Twin Peaks said, “I like the farmers market because there is a nice variety of booths. You can shop for produce and artwork.” She added, “I like to support small businesses and locals, and this is the perfect place.”
The field was teeming with patrons of all ages, buying goods, playing and chatting it up. Excitement and spirits were high to say the least.
The Running Springs Farmers Market and Artisan Faire is open every Saturday until Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 2645 Whispering Pines Drive. Make sure to stop by and find yourself some goodies!
