Athletes from Special Olympics Rim Mountain Communities recently competed in two events.
First, they competed with hundreds of other athletes on April 13 at the spring games in Murrieta. The mountain’s two teams brought home silver and bronze medals in the bocce competitions.
Then, on April 27, they once again competed in bocce, winning a bronze medal, this time at the Fontana Park Aquatic Center.
Special Olympics Southern California provides seasonal sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These competitions give the athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Rim Mountain Communities local programs include floorball, bocce, bowling and golf. Training and practices are free.

The athletes and their coaches are tremendously grateful to the Lake Arrowhead Community Presbyterian Church, Rim Bowling & Entertainment Center and the Lake Arrowhead Country Club for providing facilities for their practices.
