The annual meeting and member appreciation luncheon for the Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce, scheduled for April 5, was canceled due to the unpredictable spring weather on the mountain.
In its place, chamber members were treated to an appreciation mixer at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa on May 14. Each guest received a gift bag with Lake Arrowhead-related items and all enjoyed delicious turkey and steamed vegetables, prepared and served by Executive Chef Krista Stone.
Chamber Executive Director Robin Bull installed the board, whose members received certificates of appreciation from Sidney Sonck for Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, Corrine Mora for Congressman Jay Obernolte, Pamela Balch for Assemblyman Tom Lackey and Jim Grant for Supervisor Dawn Rowe.
Bull showed the members a video describing the Lake Arrowhead mountain communities as “regenerative and sustainable.”
Cecilia Ponce de Leon, the newly installed chair of the chamber board, asked for a standing ovation for Bull, “our mayor!”
“I wanted to give back to the community so I joined the chamber,” Ponce de Leon said. “I got ‘voluntold’ to do more.
“Networking is super important,” she said, adding, “Unity is important on the mountain. We deal with so much but together we are stronger. We support each other. We go to each other’s restaurants and stores.”
Ponce de Leon offered a word of advice to restaurants: “If you’re slow, invite a nonprofit to do a networking event there.”
And to those not already members she said, “Join the chamber and we’ll give you the step-by-step on how to get involved.”
Vice Chair Darren Diess recognized three new members of the chamber: Elevated Nest, Dorothy’s at the Lake and Indoor Weather Heating and Refrigeration.
Following the brief program, DJ Frank Pirolo started spinning tunes while guests took to the dance floor.
The event was sponsored by Southern California Edison, Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, Arrowhead Premier Properties, Keller Williams Champions and the Alpine Mountaineer.
The newly installed board includes Cecilia Ponce de Leon, chair; Josh Martin, immediate past chair; Darren Diess, vice chair; Tricia Dufour, vice chair finance; Ken Witte, secretary; Derek Bobadilla; Corina Colan; Chad Logan; Brad Lofland; Paul Medawar; Scott Rindenow; Sandra Koos; Jileen Pattison; and Matthew Weiss.
