When the PTA at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School wanted to have a mural created on the school’s wall, they turned to Wes Abarca.

Abarca has created a number of murals on the mountain, including one at Mountain High School, in his signature stained-glass style. That’s just what the PTA wanted.

Although Abarca and his family have moved out of state, they came back to the mountain for this project. Abarca was also meeting with the principal at Charles Hoffman Elementary School about creating another mural there as well as the Crestline Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he was commissioned to create a mural of a mountain lion at a private home.

Over the course of a week, Abarca worked on the mural of a hawk – the school’s mascot. The students and staff, he said, enjoyed watching the progress he made.

At the same time, his wife, Alex, painted the school’s logo on an adjoining wall.
